Baskin is a 2015 Turkish surreal horror movie centered on five cops who, while responding to a call, accidentally stumble into Hell.
Oh my. I’ll start by saying this movie certainly isn’t going to be for everyone. It really starts out quite slow – plodding along with the cops in a restaurant swapping stories. The beginning, while slow, doesn’t really drag and serves well to give us a feel for the five cops who are our main characters. However, the movie zooms into top gear as the cops receive an emergency call that takes them to an abandoned police station in the middle of nowhere. I’ll save you the gory details (and there are plenty, believe me), but in the third act this movie really starts to pile on some real graphic imagery with special effects that are all done very well.
I highly recommend this movie. The special effects are top notch, and it’s refreshing to get something so different and “out there.” Also, you must be willing to read because this is subtitled.
