Cooties is a 2015 horror-comedy that finds the summer school staff of an elementary school fighting for their lives after a tainted chicken nugget turns the students into zombies.
I’ll start out by saying that I’m not much of a horror-comedy person because usually one of the two (horror or comedy) is done poorly. Cooties, however, hits it right on the head. The cast really knocks it out of the park delivering corny, fun jokes while also being able to draw it in for some seriousness. I must also say that the beginning scene is almost enough to make anyone swear off meat (I’ll save you the details). Don’t let the comedic writing lull you in, this movie has some legit tension to back it up, and for being kids, these little zombies really bring out the violence while dispatching much of the school’s staff.
This comes highly recommended if you are looking to watch a delightfully funny/creepy movie and also watch Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson and Co. attack zombified elementary school children with PE equipment.
