We’re dipping into the video nasties once again for an Abel Ferrara classic: The Driller Killer. This movie was first brought to my attention when we talked about the Arrow Video Blu-ray release (which you can buy below). It was the first time I’d ever heard of Abel Ferrara. And to be honest, we mocked it relentlessly. And then I watched it. It’s… you just have to watch it. It’s 70s NYC, hot, sweaty, ridiculous. Oh, and marvelous.
If you haven’t seen the movie The Driller Killer is about a visual artist in NYC who starts to feel the stresses of a deadline. He combats those stresses by purchasing the latest and greatest invention (as advertised in the movie): a fanny pack battery pack. He then plugs an electric drill into it and storms the streets of New York to kill the homeless. And that’s it.

Or buy a cordless drill… Or don’t kill anyone. But you SHOULD buy the Blu-ray from Arrow Video.
