What’s your favorite horror movie?
I’m going to cheat right off the top and pick three. The first is Burnt Offerings, because it was my first horror that I saw. And that was at the age of six. The second is Halloween – again I saw that in the theatre a couple of years later, and I was blown away and still marvel at the ruthless skill of Carpenter. And the third is Phantasm, which blew me away with its sense of the fantastic and shook me to the core. Still does.
How would you want to die in a horror movie?
I think a beheading or a bisection would be in order.
What is your favorite scary book?
My favourite scary book would be Burnt Offerings by Robert Marasco. The film is based on it, but I never had a chance to read it until a few years ago. A classic “haunted house” tale (except it isn’t haunted exactly, but rather…alive), it has a more ethereal ending than the film, but still gives me the chills.
What is your favorite Halloween costume you’ve ever worn?
I went as a priest a couple of years ago. I’m naughty like that.
What is the most terrifying nightmare you’ve ever had?
Mine are the standard chase/pursuit scenarios. Oh, and the occasional night terror where I’m pinned down to my bed and can’t move. You know, the usual.
You’re in a zombie apocalypse, you have one weapon, but it’s not a gun. What is that weapon?
A gardening spade. I can stab, then scoop. Try to keep it clean, at least. Zombies can be messy.
Who would win: Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, or Michael Myers?
I’m going to pick Leatherface. We already know Jason and Freddy is a draw; Michael IS relentless, yes, but Black & Decker can do more damage. The saw is family, and family always wins.
