Her list of acting credits is getting up there. She has starred in Time to Kill, Headless, Harvest Lake, Plank Face, Frankenstein Created Bikers, Space Babes from Outer Space, and more. She has very quickly become a recognizable genre player, and she has awesome taste in movies. I’m proud to introduce my interview with Ellie Church.
I learned of your existence at the Days of the Dead Indianapolis convention when you shouted at me and told me to buy Harvest Lake, which I did. How has life been treating you since?
Great! I’ve worked on several projects after that, and we have since made the move to Atlanta and are loving it.
Before we get into your projects, I was wondering if you’d list for us your top five genre films.
These are my top five in horror , but not necessarily in order, since I can’t pick which are my favorite:
Fright Night (original)
American Werewolf in London
But my favorite movie ever is probably Better Off Dead.
Better Off Dead is my all-time favorite comedy! In AMAZON HOT BOX you play Inga Von Krupp. Who is the character, and what was it like to play her?
Inga is ruthless, sadistic, and cruel. Torture is her game , and she’s passionate about what she does. She’s also very frustrated at times, as she works with a bunch of crazies and idiots. Inga was the role I had been looking for. Something completely different from the roles I’ve had as of late. She’s a strong character, a bad guy, and that’s the sort of thing I had been waiting on.
Did you ever expect to be starring in a women-in-prison film in the 21st century?
Actually, I have been hearing Brian and Jimmy talk about doing one for quite some time now, so I kind of did expect it. But I’m glad to see them
really go after it the way they did. They really did it up right. And so excited to get to be a part of it.
What was your experience on this project overall?
Luckily, I got to see most of it unfold, from reading the script when it was freshly done, to pre production set design, to casting, post production, and everything in between. The people involved in this were amazing. No drama, no problems, all fun. Overall? This project is something I will cherish for the rest of my life.
How difficult was it to work on AMAZON HOT BOX in secret?
Not difficult , honestly. I worked on this film with 100 of my closest friends, so there were plenty of people to talk about it with, and share stories with until the time came to announce it,
I asked Brian and James this, but what would pair AMAZON HOT BOX with if you were curating a drive-in double feature?
Ilsa She Wolf of the SS. At least for me that would be the perfect one. Seeing as how she was my study and inspiration for my character Inga.
You’re also currently working on Scott Schirmer’s THE BAD MAN. What can you tell us about that?
The Bad Man is very special to me. I have been trying to will this project to happen for at least a couple of years now. After reading the script I knew I just had to do it. I knew we had to get it out there. It’s heartbreaking. Truly real and terrifying. This is the sort of thing that’s extremely hard on an actor, but I think it will bleed through on screen.
Finally, what is your ultimate goal as an actor?
To stretch my limits as far as they will go. To do everything, and be every type of character. I have the rest of my life, so that’s what I’m doing with it, being everyone.
Is there anything you’d like to add? The floor is yours.
